This is the second annual Throwdown, filling the summer nights in the City by the Sea with laughter. Three separate divisions – professional, amateur and novice – are decided, and finally, all three divisional winners go head-to-head with one eventual overall winner.
Last year’s Throwdown winner, Brian Beaudoin, hosts all seven weeks.
THE RHODE ISLAND COMIC THROWDOWN is produced by STAGERight, and sponsored by Newport This Week, Newport-Now, Jimmy’s Saloon, Billy Goodes Tavern and the Newport Blues Cafe.
First place winner gets $700 – second place earns $300 – and third place gets a trophy. That’s for the finalists, of course.
