John Morris

Hometown: Lincoln

Bio: Is it ever too late to become a comedian? John figures, maybe not… After a lifetime of experiences, being married 20-plus years, having two kids and a semi-stable career, does he really need a hobby? Maybe not, but the material was really piling up and after being a part of Frank O’Donnell’s Comedy Boot Camp, the fire was ignited – and just in time! “After 20 years of being married,” says John, “my wife really needed me to get the hell out of the house!”

John has performed in community theater for years with the North End Players and is a charter member of Frank O’Donnell’s Notfanuttin’ Players in a variety of roles, most notably as Captain Henry Morgan in the two-time award-winning production of Blackbeard’s Booty.

Growing up in a dysfunctional French-Italian family in Providence’s Federal Hill in the 1970’s and then marrying into a huge Irish family, the comedy seemed to write itself at times but it didn’t seem that funny then. John’s view on his experiences leads to an interesting and occasionally sarcastic walk down memory lane.

John was chosen the winner of the 2010 April Fool’s Comedy Contest and was the 3rd place finalist in the 2011 Catch a New Rising Star Comedy Contest at Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club. He has also been hosting regularly at Catch and has been the feature performer on a couple of occasions. He has also performed in multiple private parties and fundraisers.
